Marjane Satrapi's New Film, 'Chicken with Plums'

Perhaps best known for her book-turned-film Persepolis, Academy Award nominated director, Marjane Satrapi, recently screened her highly anticipated live action film, Chicken with Plums, at the fifth annual Kustendorf Film and Music Festival. Kustendorf aims to bring together and showcase new student filmmakers with some of the world's greatest auteurs in Mokra Gora (a small village in the mountains of Serbia).

Chicken with Plums is due out in the US later this year and tells the story of a man who dies over a lost love. Co-written and directed with Satrapi's frequent collaborator Vincent Paronnaud, Plums seems to be less explicitly political than Persepolis but just as visually stunning and captivating.

Watch the trailer below and have a read of her interview with Ariston Anderson from The 99 Percent here, she's very very clever.
